Sex, Drugs ‘n Facebook: A Parent’s Toolkit

Sex, Drugs ‘n Facebook: A Parent’s Toolkit to Promoting Healthy Internet Use is our most recent publication. It is a book designed to help parents navigate the tricky waters that our current internet-based culture provides. This page provides information on the book as well as a sneak peek of some of the interesting facts and tips within Sex, Drugs ‘n Facebook.

Did you know:

  • 82% of parents polled considered themselves very knowledgeable about their tween’s online activities. However, 44% of tweens admitted to looking at or watching something online that their parents would not have approved and 34% stated they had lied to parents about what they have done online.
  • The average family uses five internet-enabled devices at home.

Tip: Google a search term, such as “college drinking” while sitting at the computer with your child. This is a great exercise to do with your teen as they are near the end of high school or in college. This exercise can be applied with whatever topic is currently most relevant to your child to begin tough discussions.
