For alumni of the Summer Research Scholars (SRS) program, there are opportunities for additional ways to contribute to SMAHRT projects and programs. Recent opportunities have included the following:
Undergraduate In-Person Internship In the summers of 2018 through 2019, SRS alumni from Seattle, Washington spent the summer in Madison to help with team-based research projects and being alumni mentors for other SRS students. Interns Danny, Sara, and Kyle contributed to the Social Media and Health Information (SMAHI) study. |
High School Paper Writing Experience In the summer of 2022, we had an opportunity for high school students who completed SRS to participate a second time by contributing to a team-based research manuscript for publication. High school students wrote parts of a paper being prepared for publication. The research paper answered the question of how parent technology rules are associated with adolescent loneliness. |
SMAHRT Project Internship for High School Students In 2023 the SMAHRTeam had several ongoing research projects and opportunities to include teen perspectives in our work. A group of SRS alumni worked with SMAHRTeam staff and undergraduate interns to contribute to team-based projects in collaboration with the American Academy of Pediatrics over the course of 8 weeks. |
