The SMAHRTeam and TAM program facilitate two youth advisory boards (YABs) each year. Both YABs are for high school students intersted in learning and contributing to research. However, each YAB has its own focus. We encourage applicants to determine which focus they are most interested in and only apply to one YAB each cycle. Recruitment for both YABs typically takes place in the fall.
As a youth advisor, we will ask you to share your experiences with technology and your perspective on its benefits, drawbacks, and impact on your daily life. YABs also provide professional development activities to help YAB members build skills to network with professionals in the field, learn about different research careers, and gain exposure to building a resume and interviewing.

The SMAHRT Health Behaviors YAB is facilitated by SMAHRTeam members and provides input to research related to health behaviors and social media. This Wisconsin-based group meets both in-person and virtually, so YAB members should live within driving distance of Madison, Wisconsin.
