Q: What have you been working on while on SMAHRT?
A: At SMAHRT I have two different responsibilities throughout my work week. I am the promotions team lead where I work with a team of interns to promote and disseminate SMAHRT’s research findings and programs and I’m a researcher. I work on a variety of projects on the team, but currently I work on the bullying project and the LIWC news media pilot.
Q: What project are you most proud of and why?
A: I am very proud of the work that our bullying project has completed. This was the first project that I was able to help with when I started on SMAHRT. I found it so rewarding to be able to share some of my communications/journalism knowledge with the group. This was the work that really sparked my interest in not only promoting research, but conducting it.
Q: What female role models/mentors do you have in your life?
A: I grew up with a lot of strong women in my life and I look to all of them as my role models. I have also been fortunate enough to be surrounded by more strong women and researchers while on SMAHRT and working in the Department of Pediatrics.
Q: What is the best advice they have given you?
A: Growing up I have always been told that I can do anything I set my mind to.
Q: What do you hope the future is like for women and girls in science?
A: I hope that the future for women and girls in science is bright. I know that including different and unique perspectives can only make science better.
